Keeping an Asthma Symptom Tracker

1 min read

When you talk to your doctor about your asthma, they will probably ask what symptoms you've noticed recently. That information helps your doctor choose the best treatment plan for you. You can make that easier by keeping a symptoms tracker between doctor visits.

You can track asthma symptoms the old-fashioned way with pen and paper. Another option is to type them into a notes app on your phone. You can also use specialized apps to enter symptom information for future reference.

Use the tracker to note information such as:

  • Lung function test results
  • Daytime symptoms
  • Nighttime symptoms
  • Asthma attacks and possible triggers
  • Daily medication use
  • Rescue inhaler use
  • Other notes, such as exercise, diet, or illness that might affect your symptoms.

Be sure to bring your tracker with you to doctor visits. The tracker can help you and your doctor fine-tune your treatment plan to best manage your asthma symptoms
