The culture of support around breast cancer is filled with empowering language. You might see stickers and T-shirts that say things like "Pink power!" or "Fight like a girl!" Some breast cancer awareness slogans are sly references to breasts themselves, for example, "Big or small, save them all".
It's undeniable that having a cheering section can be motivating for some people — but others might not go for all the pink ribbons and catchy sayings. For some breast cancer survivors, having cancer is a private journey, and they shy away from public awareness activities.
