Your bones are constantly being broken down and rebuilt again, with calcium being a key player in bone strength. Citracal products are used to increase calcium levels in your body, which may help support bone health.

All Citracal products contain calcium and vitamin D. Calcium can help your bones develop, which can help support bone strength. When taken with calcium, vitamin D helps your body absorb more calcium.

There are also Citracal products that contain additional minerals to help support bone health. These minerals include zinc, copper, manganese, magnesium, and phosphorus.

There are Citracal products for adults and children as young as 12 years old.

Citracal products are usually well tolerated. Side effects may vary depending on the ingredients in the specific product you are taking. Some possible side effects include stomach problems, including the following.

  • Constipation
  • Gas
  • Bloating
  • Diarrhea
  • Stomach cramps
  • Nausea

Stop taking the supplement if you develop a rash or hives. Get medical help right away if you have signs of a serious allergic reaction, such as trouble breathing or swelling of the face, lips, or throat.

Citracal products are considered dietary supplements. The FDA does not approve dietary supplements, nor do they test how safe or effective they are.

If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, talk to your health care provider before taking a Citracal product. Also talk to your health care provider about all the medical conditions you have and all the medicines you are taking, including prescription and over-the-counter ones, or other vitamins and mineral supplements.

Citracal Caplets. Citracal caplets are sugar-free. You should take the caplets while in an upright position, such as when standing or sitting up straight (not while lying down) and with a full glass of water. If you have trouble swallowing, talk to your health care provider before using a Citracal caplet.

Citracal Gummies. The color of Citracal gummies may change over time, but this should not affect the taste or how well the gummies work. It is important to chew the gummies fully before swallowing.

There may be side effects, additional warnings, and interactions with other medicines that are not listed here. These may vary depending on the combination of ingredients in the specific Citracal product you are taking. Always check the label before taking a supplement. Do not take more than the recommended dose. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist about your health conditions and other medicines you are taking to help determine which products are safe for you.
