What is Mulpleta used for?
Mulpleta (lusutrombopag) is commonly used to treat low platelet levels (thrombocytopenia) in people with chronic liver disease who are going to have a procedure, such as surgery.

How should I store Mulpleta?
Mulpleta should be stored at room temperature, between 68 F and 77 F (20 C and 25 C). It can be exposed to temperatures between 59 F and 86 F (15 C and 30 C) for shorter periods of time, such as when transporting it. Store in a cool, dry place. Keep Mulpleta in the packaging that it comes in.

Severe Allergic Reactions. Mulpleta may cause allergic reactions, which can be serious. Stop taking Mulpleta and get help right away if you have any of the following symptoms of a serious allergic reaction.
- Breathing problems or wheezing
- Racing heart
- Fever or general ill feeling
- Swollen lymph nodes
- Swelling of the face, lips, mouth, tongue, or throat
- Trouble swallowing or throat tightness
- Itching, skin rash, or pale red bumps on the skin called hives
- Nausea or vomiting
- Dizziness, feeling lightheaded, or fainting
- Stomach cramps
- Joint pain
Blood Clots. Mulpleta may increase the risk of blood clots in your arteries or veins, including a blood clot in the lungs (pulmonary embolism), legs, thigh, pelvis, other areas (deep venous thrombosis or DVT), or the liver (portal vein thrombosis). This risk may be higher in people who have certain health conditions. Stop taking Mulpleta and get emergency help if you have any of the following signs of these blood clots.
- Chest pain or pressure
- Fast or abnormal heartbeat
- Trouble breathing
- Stomach pain or tenderness
- Pain, swelling, or tenderness in your arm or leg

What should I tell my health care provider before using Mulpleta?
Tell your health care provider about all of your health conditions and any prescription or over-the-counter (OTC) medicines, vitamins/minerals, herbal products, and other supplements you are using. This will help them determine if Mulpleta is right for you.
In particular, make sure that you discuss any of the following.
Blood Clots. Let your health care provider know if you have or have ever had a blood clot, have any other blood clotting problems, or have any condition that increases your risk for blood clots. Some examples include factor V Leiden, antithrombin deficiency, protein C deficiency or protein S deficiency, and antiphospholipid syndrome.
Pregnancy. Mulpleta may cause harm to a fetus. Tell your health care provider if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant.
Breastfeeding. It is not known if Mulpleta passes into breast milk. You should avoid breastfeeding while taking Mulpleta and for at least 28 days after your last dose. Tell your health care provider if you are breastfeeding or plan to breastfeed.

Does Mulpleta interact with foods or drinks?
There are no known interactions between Mulpleta and foods or drinks.
It is unknown if drinking alcohol will affect Mulpleta, but low platelet levels can increase your risk of bleeding. Since alcohol can also increase your risk of bleeding, it is best to limit the amount of alcohol you drink.
Does Mulpleta interact with other medicines (drug interactions)?

Overdose/Missed Dose
What should I do if I accidentally use too much Mulpleta?
If you or someone else has used too much Mulpleta, get medical help right away, call 911, or contact a Poison Control center at 800-222-1222.
What should I do if I miss a dose of Mulpleta?
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember on the same day. On the next day, return to your usual schedule. Do not take double or extra doses.
