Overview: Norliqva is used to treat high blood pressure and certain types of chest pain and heart disease. The medicine helps to relax your blood vessels. Dizziness, swelling of your legs and ankles, and tiredness are common side effects. Although this medicine can be used to treat certain types of chest pain, get emergency help if you have severe chest pain or chest pain that is different for you, especially if you also have sweating, sudden dizziness, or discomfort that spreads to your shoulder, arm, back, neck, or jaw.

What is Norliqva used for?
Norliqva (amlodipine) is commonly used for the following conditions.
- High blood pressure (hypertension)
- Coronary artery disease, which is a type of heart disease
- Angina, which is a type of chest pain
Norliqva may also be used for other conditions as determined by your health care provider.
How does Norliqva work (mechanism of action)?
Norliqva relaxes your blood vessels so that blood can move through them more easily and your heart does not have to work as hard.
How is Norliqva supplied (dosage forms)?
Norliqva is available in a 1 mg/mL oral solution that is taken by mouth.
How should I store Norliqva?
Norliqva should be stored in the packaging it came in at room temperature, between 68 F and 77 F (20 C to 25 C). It can be exposed to temperatures between 59 F and 86 F (15 C and 30 C), for shorter periods of time, such as when transporting it.
Side Effects
What are the most common side effects of Norliqva?
The most common side effects of Norliqva are listed below. Tell your health care provider if you have any of these side effects that bother you.
- Swelling of your legs and ankles (edema)
- Dizziness
- Warmth and redness in your face (flushing)
- Feeling of skipped heartbeats
- Tiredness or sleepiness
- Nausea

What are the serious side effects of Norliqva?
While less common, the most serious side effects of Norliqva are described below, along with what to do if they happen.
Severe Allergic Reactions. Norliqva may cause allergic reactions, which can be serious. Stop taking Norliqva and get help right away if you have any of the following symptoms of a serious allergic reaction.
- Breathing problems or wheezing
- Racing heart
- Fever or general ill feeling
- Swollen lymph nodes
- Swelling of the face, lips, mouth, tongue, or throat
- Trouble swallowing or throat tightness
- Itching or skin rash
- Bumps on the skin called hives that can be red, pink, white, or brown depending on your skin tone
- Nausea or vomiting
- Dizziness, feeling lightheaded, or fainting
- Stomach cramps
- Joint pain
Decreased Blood Pressure (Hypotension). Norliqva may cause low blood pressure, especially if you have severe aortic stenosis, a condition where one of your heart valves does not open or close all the way. If you feel faint or dizzy, lie down. Tell your healthcare provider right away if you have any of the following symptoms of low blood pressure.
- Dizziness, feeling lightheaded, or fainting
- Confusion
- Feeling weak or tired
Increased Angina or Heart attack. When you first start taking Norliqva or increase your dose, your chest pain (angina) may get worse or you may have a heart attack. This risk is higher if you have severe obstructive coronary artery disease, a condition where the blood vessels that deliver blood, oxygen, and nutrients to your heart get blocked. Get emergency help if you have any of the following symptoms of a heart attack.
- Severe chest pain, which may feel like pressure, tightness, squeezing or aching
- Discomfort that spreads to the shoulder, arm, back, neck, or jaw
- Cold sweat
- Unusual tiredness
- Heartburn or indigestion
- Lightheadedness or sudden dizziness

Allergies to Ingredients. People who are allergic to any of the following should not take Norliqva.
- Amlodipine
- Norliqva
- Any of the ingredients in the specific product dispensed

Do not take Norliqva unless it has been prescribed to you by a health care provider. Take it as prescribed.

What should I tell my health care provider before using Norliqva?
Tell your health care provider about all of your health conditions and any prescription or over-the-counter (OTC) medicines, vitamins/minerals, herbal products, and other supplements you are using. This will help them know if Norliqva is right for you.

Other Medicines and Supplements. Norliqva may interact with other medicines and supplements. Before using Norliqva, tell your healthcare provider about any prescription or over-the-counter (OTC) medicines, vitamins/minerals, herbal products, and other supplements you are using. Pregnancy. It is not known if or how Norliqva could affect pregnancy or harm an unborn baby. Tell your health care provider if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant.
Breastfeeding. Norliqva passes into breast milk. Tell your health care provider if you are breastfeeding or plan to breastfeed.

Interactions
Does Norliqva interact with foods or drinks?
There are no known interactions between Norliqva and foods or drinks.
It is unknown if drinking alcohol will affect Norliqva. The risk of dizziness, tiredness, or sleepiness may be increased if you drink alcohol while taking Norliqva.
Does Norliqva interact with other medicines (drug interactions)?
Always tell your healthcare provider about any prescription or over-the-counter (OTC) medicines, vitamins/minerals, herbal products, and other supplements you are using.
In particular, make sure that you discuss if you are using any of the following before using Norliqva.
- Diltiazem (Cardizem CD and others), which is a medicine used for high blood pressure and other conditions
- Simvastatin (Flolipid, Zocor), which is a medicine used to treat high cholesterol and reduce the risk of heart disease
- A phosphodiesterase-5 (PDE-5) inhibitor, such as avanafil (Stendra), sildenafil (Viagra, Revatio, and others), tadalafil (Cialis and others), or vardenafil (Levitra, Staxyn), which is a medicine used for erectile dysfunction or pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH)
- Cyclosporine (Gengraf, Neoral, Sandimmune, and others) or tacrolimus (Prograf, Astagraf, and others), which is a medicine used to suppress your immune system
Some other medicines may alter the blood levels of Norliqva, and vice versa. Tell your healthcare provider about all medicines that you take or have recently taken.

Overdose/Missed Dose
What should I do if I accidentally use too much Norliqva?
If you or someone else has used too much Norliqva, get medical help right away, call 911, or contact a Poison Control center at 800-222-1222.
What should I do if I miss a dose of Norliqva?
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and only take the next dose. Do not take double or extra doses.
