What is Truqap used for?
Truqap (capivasertib) is commonly used for treating certain types of breast cancer.

How does Truqap work (mechanism of action)?
Truqap is a type of medicine called a kinase inhibitor that blocks the activation of protein kinase (AKT). AKT helps cancer cells to grow and multiply. Truqap blocks the activity of AKT to help stop cancer cells from growing and multiplying.
How is Truqap supplied (dosage forms)?
Truqap is available in the following dosage forms that are taken by mouth.
- 160 mg oral tablets
- 200 mg oral tablets
How should I store Truqap?
Truqap should be stored at room temperature, between 68 F to 77 F (20 C to 25 C). It can be exposed to temperatures between 59 F to 86 F (15 C to 30 C) for shorter periods of time, such as when transporting it. Store in a cool, dry place.
Side Effects
What are the most common side effects of Truqap?
The most common side effects of Truqap are listed below. Tell your healthcare provider if you have any of these side effects that bother you.
- Diarrhea
- Changes in certain blood cell levels including white blood cells, red blood cells, and platelets
- Changes in certain blood levels such as creatinine (a measure of how well your kidneys work) and triglycerides
- High blood sugar levels
- Nausea and vomiting
- Tiredness
- Rash
- Dry skin
- Mouth sores

What are the serious side effects of Truqap?
While less common, the most serious side effects of Truqap are described below, along with what to do if they happen.
Severe Allergic Reactions. Truqap may cause allergic reactions, which can be serious. Stop taking Truqap and get help right away if you have any of the following symptoms of a serious allergic reaction.
- Breathing problems or wheezing
- Racing heart
- Fever or general ill feeling
- Swollen lymph nodes
- Swelling of the face, lips, mouth, tongue, or throat
- Trouble swallowing or throat tightness
- Itching, skin rash, or pale red bumps on the skin called hives
- Nausea or vomiting
- Dizziness, feeling lightheaded, or fainting
- Stomach cramps
- Joint pain
Severe Skin Reactions. Truqap can cause a specific type of cutaneous (skin) allergic reaction called DRESS. DRESS stands for Drug Reaction with Eosinophilia and Systemic Symptoms. It is also sometimes called multi-organ hypersensitivity. This is a reaction that can affect multiple parts of the body including your skin, liver, kidneys, and heart. Stop using the medicine and get help right away if you have any of the following symptoms of this serious skin reaction.
- Skin rash or pale red bumps on the skin called hives
- Fever or general ill feeling
- Blisters on lips, eyes, mouth, or skin
- Swollen lymph nodes
- Shortness of breath
- Swelling in your feet, ankles, or legs
- Dark-colored pee
- Your skin or the whites of your eyes turning yellowish in color (also called jaundice)
Diarrhea. Diarrhea is common with Truqap. You will be told how to take the medicine to lessen the effect of diarrhea. Call your healthcare provider right away if you develop diarrhea or if you have more than two bowel movements in one day. If you are given medicine to prevent or treat diarrhea, take it exactly as your healthcare provider tells you. Call your healthcare provider right away if you have any of the following.
- Severe diarrhea
- Diarrhea that does not go away
- Diarrhea with weakness, dizziness, or fever
High Blood Sugar (Hyperglycemia). Truqap can cause high blood sugar, which can be serious and may lead to death. Your healthcare provider will monitor your blood sugar levels before you start and during treatment with Truqap. You may need to check your blood sugar more often if you have changes to your diet, exercise regimen or medicines. Call your healthcare provider right away if you have any of the following symptoms of hyperglycemia.
- Excessive thirst
- Dry mouth
- Frequent need to pee
- Increased appetite with weight loss
- Confusion
- Nausea and vomiting
- Dry skin

Who should not use Truqap?
Allergies to Ingredients. People who are allergic to any of the following should not take Truqap.
- Truqap
- Capivasertib
- Any of the ingredients in the specific product dispensed

What should I know about Truqap before using it?
Do not take Truqap unless it has been prescribed to you by a healthcare provider. Take it as prescribed.
Do not share Truqap with other people, even if they have the same condition as you. It may harm them.
Keep Truqap out of the reach of children.
Do not chew, cut, or crush Truqap.
What should I tell my healthcare provider before using Truqap?
Tell your healthcare provider about all of your health conditions and any prescription or over-the-counter (OTC) medicines, vitamins/minerals, herbal products, and other supplements you are using. This will help them determine if Truqap is right for you.
In particular, make sure that you discuss any of the following.
- Liver problems
- Kidney problems
- Skin problems
- Problems with high blood sugar levels or diabetes
Other Medicines and Supplements. Truqap may interact with other medicines and supplements. Before taking Truqap, tell your healthcare provider about any prescription or over-the-counter (OTC) medicines, vitamins/minerals, herbal products, and other supplements you are using. See the Interactions section for more details.
Pregnancy. Truqap may cause harm to an unborn baby. Tell your healthcare provider if you are or plan to become pregnant. If you become pregnant, stop taking Truqap right away and contact your healthcare provider. If you can become pregnant, use effective birth control during treatment and for 1 month after your last dose of Truqap. Males with female partners who can become pregnant should use effective birth control during treatment and for 4 months after your last dose of Truqap.
Breastfeeding. Do not take Truqap while you are breastfeeding. It is not known if Zejula passes into breast milk. Tell your healthcare provider if you are breastfeeding or plan to breastfeed.

Interactions
Does Truqap interact with foods or drinks?
Avoid drinking grapefruit juice or eating grapefruits while taking Truqap.
It is unknown if drinking alcohol will affect Truqap.
Does Truqap interact with other medicines (drug interactions)?
Always tell your healthcare provider about any prescription or over-the-counter (OTC) medicines, vitamins/minerals, herbal products, and other supplements you are using.
Some medicines may alter the blood levels of Truqap. Tell your healthcare provider about all medicines that you take or have recently taken.

Overdose/Missed Dose
What should I do if I accidentally use too much Truqap?
If you or someone else has used too much Truqap, get medical help right away, call 911, or contact a Poison Control center at 800-222-1222.
What should I do if I miss a dose of Truqap?
If you miss a dose, you may still take it within 4 hours from the time you usually take it. If it has been more than 4 hours after you usually take your dose, skip that dose. Take the next dose at your usual time. Do not take 2 doses at the same time to make up for a missed dose.
