Overview: Tryptyr is an eye drop used for dry eye disease. It works by helping your eyes make more tears. The most common side effects are pain or burning when you put the drop in your eye. If you use another eye medicine, wait at least five minutes between Tryptyr and the other eye medicine. If you wear contact lenses, take them out before using Tryptyr, and wait 15 minutes to put your contact lenses back in your eyes. Call your health care provider right away if you get an eye infection or injury.

How does Tryptyr work (mechanism of action)?

Tryptyr is thought to work by stimulating certain nerves in your cornea, which increases the amount of tears you make. Tears can reduce the symptoms of dry eye disease, such as eye itching, a sandy or gritty feeling in your eyes, eye redness, and blurry vision.
