What do Gas-X products treat?

Gas-X products are used to treat fullness, pressure, or bloating from gas. All Gas-X products contain simethicone as the main active ingredient. Simethicone reduces symptoms from gas by helping small gas bubbles come together. This allows gas to pass more easily through your gastrointestinal (GI) tract.

Gas-X Total Relief contains an antacid, calcium carbonate, in addition to simethicone. Calcium carbonate helps neutralize the acid in your stomach. This helps reduce indigestion, heartburn, or sour or upset stomach.

There are Gas-X products for adults and children as young as 12 years old.

What are the possible side effects of Gas-X products?

Gas-X products are usually well-tolerated. Some people may have diarrhea or constipation.

Stop using the medicine if you develop a rash or hives. Get medical help right away if you have signs of a serious allergic reaction, such as trouble breathing or swelling of the face, lips, or throat.

What should I know before using Gas-X products?

Talk to your health care provider if you are pregnant or breastfeeding before taking Gas-X.

Gas-X Total Relief may interact with other medicines. You should not take Gas-X Total Relief for longer than two weeks unless your health care provider tells you to do so. If you are still having symptoms after taking it regularly for two weeks, contact your health care provider.
