What do Goody’s products treat?
Goody’s products are used to treat common aches and pains, including headaches, backaches, muscle aches, and hangover symptoms. They come in a powder form that you can take quickly for relief.
Goody’s products mix multiple pain-relieving ingredients in one dose.
- Acetaminophen helps relieve pain by blocking pain signals in your body.
- Aspirin helps relieve pain and is a type of medicine called an NSAID (nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory). NSAIDs work by blocking specific proteins in your body that cause swelling and pain.
- Caffeine helps relieve pain and can make you feel more awake by speeding up your nervous system.
One Goody’s product (Goody’s PM Nighttime Powder) also contains an active ingredient known as diphenhydramine. Diphenhydramine is an antihistamine that works to block a chemical in your body called histamine, which can work to help you fall asleep.
What are the possible side effects of Goody’s products?
Goody’s products are generally safe for adults and children as young as 12 years old.
Stop using the medicine if you develop a rash or hives. Get medical help right away if you have signs of a serious allergic reaction, such as trouble breathing or swelling of the face, lips, or throat.

What should I know before using Goody’s products?
Goody’s products come as a powder. You can take the medicine one of two ways. The first way is to place it on your tongue and take it with a full glass of water. The second way is to mix the powder with water or another liquid in a glass. If you are taking a Goody’s product that has aspirin, you may be at higher risk of developing Reye’s syndrome (in children and teenagers) and stomach bleeding. If you are taking a Goody’s product for hangover relief, do not use the medicine for more than two days unless you are told so by your health care provider. Some Goody’s products that contain caffeine may have as much caffeine as a cup of coffee. Taking other medicines with caffeine or drinking coffee while taking some Goody’s products with caffeine may cause irritability, fast heartbeat, and nervousness.
Check with a health care provider if you have any of the following before taking a Goody’s product with aspirin.
- Stomach bleeding
- History of stomach problems, such as heartburn or stomach ulcers
- High blood pressure, heart disease, cirrhosis of the liver, or kidney problems
- Asthma
- Diabetes, gout, or arthritis (and take medicine for it)
- Take a blood thinner such as warfarin, a diuretic (water pill), a steroid, or another NSAID medicine
- Drink three or more alcoholic drinks per day

Stop taking Goody’s and call your health care provider if you have any of the following symptoms.
- Bloody or black stool
- Feeling faint
- Vomit blood or have new stomach pain
- Ringing in your ears or hearing loss
- Develop any new symptoms
- Pain that gets worse or lasts for 10 days or more
- Fever that gets worse or lasts for three days or more
- Redness or swelling
If you are taking Goody’s PM Nighttime powder (which contains diphenhydramine), the medicine can make you drowsy. If you feel drowsy after taking this product, do not drive or do other activities that require alertness or coordination until you know how the product affects you. Drinking alcohol can increase your risk for drowsiness. Avoid drinking alcohol while taking Goody’s PM Nighttime powder. Before taking a Goody’s product with diphenhydramine, check with your health care provider if you have any of the following.
- Liver disease
- Glaucoma
- A breathing problem, such as chronic bronchitis or emphysema
- Trouble peeing due to an enlarged prostate
- Take certain medicines, such as blood thinners, sedatives, or tranquilizers
There may be side effects, additional warnings, and interactions with other medicines that are not listed here. These may vary depending on the combination of ingredients in the specific Goody’s product you are using. Always check the label before taking any over-the-counter medicine. Do not take more than the recommended dose. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist about your health conditions and other medicines to help determine which products are safe for you.
