Eczema affects over 31 million Americans. It is incredibly common yet there is still an oppressive stigma associated with it.

Many people who have eczema are afraid to even admit that they have eczema. They can feel the urge to cover up their bodies at all times and hide their condition from people in their life. This can lead to people with eczema feeling isolated and ashamed of themselves.

It is only human that you would want to speak with other people who have eczema in order to better understand your condition and how to manage it. Having a community that knows what eczema feels like can be incredibly healing for your skin and for your mental wellbeing.

Taking care of your mental state is important for eczema because emotional distress can often cause eczema to flare up. One great way to do this is to join an eczema support group. There are many groups like this that you can join and meet others who share your eczema experience. These groups can be found online or through your medical provider.

In addition, to support groups for people with eczema, there are now many models and people on social media who are public in their eczema journey. Brands are now asking models who have eczema to model in campaigns and influencers have created entire communities of people who have eczema. There could be a whole community of eczema role models out there just for you!

Either way you do it, finding a role model or someone you look up to that has eczema can help you build confidence and manage your eczema. These people can help you reframe your eczema in your mind and show you how to live peacefully with it. Just like models help us see news of being beautiful, role models can do the same with eczema.
