Overview

Malabar nut is a plant. People use the leaf to make medicine.

Malabar nut is used to loosen chest congestion, open the breathing tubes (bronchi), and treat spasms. It is used for upper airway infections, common colds, cough, asthma, and tuberculosis.

Tooth plaque. Early research shows that using a toothpaste containing nine herbs, including Malabar nut leaf, might prevent plaque growth on the teeth.
Upper airway infection. Early research shows that taking a product containing Malabar nut, echinacea, and Siberian ginseng each day doesn't improve symptoms in people with upper airway infections.
Asthma.
Breathing problems.
Chest congestion.
Common cold.
Cough.
Spasms.
Tuberculosis.
Other conditions.

More evidence is needed to rate the effectiveness of Malabar nut for these uses.
