Hirania Luzardo is a veteran bilingual journalist specializing in health and multicultural audiences. Luzardo oversees WebMD’s Spanish editorial content as well as the consumer health content in English.
Luzardo holds a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Mass Media Communication from University of Havana, Cuba, and a Master of Science in Crisis Communication from Queens University of Charlotte, North Carolina.
Luzardo previously worked as a health editor for AARP and as a news editor at HuffPost and Univision. Luzardo was born and raised in Cuba, and she’s passionate about making health information accessible and relevant to diverse audiences, particularly the Hispanic community.
Luzardo is active with Breakthrough T1D (formerly the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation) to support parents of children with type 1 diabetes. She is also a proud member of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists.
Luzardo enjoys Bikram yoga, Ayurvedic cooking, reading about well-being, and spending time with her family and her beloved rescue rat terrier.
